Sorry I hadn’t posted anything for more than a week. My iMac was being upgraded and took longer than it needed to be.

In the basement that is. It’s good to be back. I’ve been putting some of my figures back on the shelfs. Otherwise it’s been a normal day.
Making the best of being in my bedroom (who knows when I’ll be able to be basement bound once more, hopefully by summer), I’ve got my blu-ray player set up with my first BD, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (I refuse to use the name given for its western market release). It looks great!
There’s not many BD releases I actually want though. K-ON! the movie is a definite buy but otherwise most of the stuff I’m interested in is WAY too much. I’m not buying Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari no matter how tempting the prospect of Mayoi in HD is.
I finally have access to my own computer. Set up in my bedroom, it’s where I’ll be hanging out until the basement is fixed.
While I lost my books and nearly all of my drawings , I haven’t lost my otaku spirit. That will never be broken.
Things have been returning slowly to normal. While I’ll never get back certain books (oh how I morn the loss of my Artmic Studio book from 1987), I’ve been ordering some artbooks and the manga I care about (Hidamari Sketch and K-On).
In the meanwhile I’ve been cleaning my mind boggling amount of toys. Most of it will be as if nothing happened but others have significant damage (the salt water caused corrosion on my shiny Hyaku Shiki chogokin. Eh, I’ll pretend it’s battle damaged).
Otherwise, I’m doing good. There won’t be any art uploaded for quite so in the meanwhile I’ll relaxed my brain with anime, which I need to do badly. I have to remember that I’m considered one of the lucky ones. Many have lost their entire homes and there’s still some who have no power.
Thanks for all the support guys!
Unless any of you have been living under a rock, you know about the destruction left by hurricane Sandy. Me living in Queens NY, it was in its path.
I’m okay! My family is ok, That’s the most important.
Where I hang out, my basement however, is not. I lost ALL of my books (including some really rare ones), my manga and sadly my artwork (even though a good deal of it was scanned) and most of my supplies. I was able to rescue my DVDs (took them out of their cases to dry them and will put them in jewel cases) and my toys (many got wet and I’m in the process of cleaning them. There is A LOT I have to go through).
I’m glad that my iMac, LCD TV and external hard drives were brought up before the flash flood came. There really wasn’t time to get anything else.
For two weeks life was tough, but I didn’t get upset and just concern myself with bringing up things both clean and damaged from my room.
The water went up 4ft. The first day after the event was rough. Staying at my neighbor across the street for a night (along with my mother, father and dog), the anxiousness of not knowing what the condition of my room was brutal. Not to mention, the stress was not good for my diabetes (type-1).
After that wasn’t much better, It was REALLY cold in the upper part of my house, not having any heat, hot water or electricity. A gas generator was all that provided power and a line to another neighbor’s power.
Only NOW has power and hot water been restored, but the months ahead will still be tough. I will be sleeping and living in my bedroom while all that is clean from the basement will be brought there.
I’m writing this on my aunt’s computer so my access to the internet will be limited for a while. I’ll get back to you guys soon when I get my iMac set up.
I decided to remove some of my older posts and the majority of pregnant and more perverted drawings. Don’t worry, they’re still up at my pixiv account. Hope that’s ok with my fellow watchers.
